News: New restoration in Bachkovo

             It has started the cleaning and restoration of the murals in the main church of the monastery.
            The temple was built in 1604. The frescoes are from two periods - in narthex of 1643 made by unknown artists,than central and altar parts were repainting of Edirne master Mosko Velev in 1850.
            Great visit to the Cathedral and many candles placed by the faithfuls lead naturally to smoking images and they become hard to distinguish. The generous donor support was made possible mural to be thoroughly cleaned. So each visiter of the monastery and of the church will be able to enjoy both the craftsmanship of painters and the spiritual insight of the images that represent to us life of Jesus Christ, sacrifices feat of martyr saints given their lives for the faith and the many images of saints.
            Restoration work is managed by prof.Grigorov. First will be processed the narthex, and after that the central part of the dedicated to the Assumption of Our Heavenly Patroness temple.

The monastic fraternity constantly makes every endeavor to maintain the Cloister of the Holy Virgin at its best condition; this is the condition the cloister really deserves to be in, in order to welcome the thousands of pilgrims that visit it every year, truly beautifully and impress them.
The maintenance of the fund and the restoration of the many unique frescoes, inherited by the holy forefathers, could be quite costly and the monastery does not always manage to cover all the expenses. For this very reason, we turn for help to every Christian and to everyone who values the Bachkovo monastery, to contribute within their means and thus join our efforts.
